Components

A lubrication system built into a container. The container was equipped with an extendable crane/winch, lighting, an AC unit, an interface and control for the AC, and a fire extinguishing system.

To withstand the extreme weather conditions in central Africa, we custom-built the unit with AC in a container. It was built in Ystad, shipped overseas, and installed on site. The container was equipped with openable short sides and a long side to facilitate easy on-site repairs.

Working for the international mining industry

HydX has custom-built and delivered another lubrication system to an international mine, this time to the Democratic Republic of Congo in Africa.

"It is extremely exciting that we are once again being asked to develop customised aggregates for the international mining industry," says HydX Viktor Johansson Rix.

Developed and built in Ystad, delivered to Africa

Since its inception in 2009, HydX has been producing lubrication systems for the mining industry, and they have been delivered to all continents. In total, HydX has delivered over 100 lubrication systems to hydrostatic mining mills. Still, in 2022, an order came in for a mineral mine in central Africa, which meant that there were several challenging factors to take into account.

Among other things, the unit could not be built on site, could not be transported from Ystad to Congo, could not withstand the extreme weather conditions prevailing in the area, and could not fulfil all local regulations.

"The unit is slightly smaller than before, but to cope with the extreme weather conditions in the Democratic Republic of Congo, we have custom-built the unit in a container"

Designed for extreme conditions

The design has been done in Ystad, where everything has also been manufactured and assembled. The unit and container consist of almost 1500 components and the work has taken almost 400 hours to complete.

- The work included going through the specifications, making sure the unit and container meet local regulations and can withstand the heat. It can get up to 45 degrees centigrade, and in some cases even hotter when the sun is shining. We had to make a lot of adjustments compared to a standard unit," explains Viktor Johansson Rix.

The container was equipped with openable short sides and an openable long side to make it possible to carry out repairs on site, there is a pull-out crane / winch, lighting, AC unit, interface and control of AC, and fire extinguishing system. Everything is adapted to the conditions prevailing in the southern parts of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Missions with high demands

HydX has made modifications to cope with higher ambient temperatures and adapted the layout so that the unit can fit in a 20-foot container, as well as withstand transport by sea and land.

The unit and container left Sweden for shipment to Africa in autumn 2023.

"hat was a major challenge, as such a mission places high demands on us. We must ensure that the lubrication system withstands sea transport and continues to perform reliably once installed on site."
