Marine technology with high performance and reliability

The marine environment is both vulnerable and demanding, placing high demands on technology, materials and expertise. We offer solutions adapted for harsh conditions, with the right choice of materials, surface treatments and technical know-how. HydX manages special requirements in machine applications, offers Mode II certification and delivers global support even in the harshest environments.

HydX - your complete partner in marine OEM

HydX offers complete solutions in marine hydraulics - from concept development to series production. We help OEM customers to develop optimised, energy-efficient and certified systems that meet both technical and global environmental requirements. Our customised solutions can integrate hydraulics, electronics, electrification, battery technology, system technology and remote control with remote access - always adapted for demanding marine environments.

We have extensive experience working with leading international certification bodies. Authorised to carry out specific certifications directly in our manufacturing unit in Ystad, we know what it takes for a system to pass verification and approvals.

Through close collaboration, technical support and global service, we are a partner you can trust - from development and customisation to deployment and long-term operation. Many of our customers have been working with us for over a decade. We deliver not only technical excellence and deep industry knowledge, but also solutions that work - and relationships that last.

All of this forms the basis for a strong, long-term partnership.

HydX can meet our highest demands, in terms of design, function and materials, which gives us a better end product. Even when projects are tricky, they are responsive and customise products.

Safe solutions for tough marine requirements

For marine system OEMs, the stakes are high. Hydraulic solutions must work in corrosive salt and brackish water, withstand extreme temperature differences, from the cold Nordic winters to warm tropical seas, while meeting global environmental requirements. HydX delivers systems with certified components, advanced surface treatments and customised materials for long life and minimal ecological impact. We develop systems that can be used on land, in water, or that can move between both, switching between land and sea.

We offer high precision, reliable control and global support, whether for propulsion systems, remote-controlled cranes or other marine automation. With HydX as your partner, you get a solution that is ready for series production, national and international delivery and a demanding operating environment.

With Mode II certification, we design and deliver complete hydraulic systems that meet the requirements of marine and offshore customers right out of the box. The result is fewer interfaces, reduced risk, and a more efficient workflow for our customers.

What does Mode II certification mean?

The Mode II certification from Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore is an international recognition that HydX has the competence, structure and control required to supply marine and offshore applications. The certification is based on the NR320 standard and confirms that our facilities, processes and quality procedures meet the requirements of these highly regulated industries.

The certification is proof that HydX meets the highest standards as a supplier to the marine and offshore sector - certified, inspected and ready for the most demanding marine environments.

The value of Mode II certification

  • Manage type approval and design reviews
  • Qualify critical manufacturing methods
  • Ensure the competence of assemblers and test personnel
  • Maintain full traceability throughout the supply chain
  • Perform testing, calibration and non-conformance management
  • Meeting high standards of quality, safety and documentation
  • Manage non-conforming products and customer complaints

Questions & Answers

Because hydraulic systems are closed, they work well even underwater. One challenge is the external water pressure, which places high demands on seals and shaft locks that must withstand pressure from two directions, both inside and outside. This problem does not exist on land. Another is the demanding and varying salinity of the water. In Sweden, the systems are often used in brackish water, while our global customers often use their applications in salt water. Both environments are corrosive and place high demands on material selection, seals and surface treatments. Our solutions are developed to deliver reliable performance in harsh marine environments, from Nordic coasts to tropical seas.

Yes, we develop remote-controlled hydraulic systems for marine cranes and other applications. We often use the same proven control systems that are used in our mobile solutions on land, but adapt them to cope with marine conditions such as moisture, salt water and varying temperatures. Most of our components have a high IP rating, up to IP 69, the highest classification for dust and water.

HydX hydraulic systems are used in a range of marine applications, from offshore and underwater robotics to ship systems and harbour facilities, both in Swedish waters and globally. Contact us and we will be happy to tell you more.

YYes, HydX control systems can be customised to operate in corrosive marine environments. We take proven mobile systems and modify them to meet challenges such as salt water, humidity and significant temperature variations. Our solutions are used in offshore, underwater robotics, ship systems and harbour facilities, both in brackish and salt water, in Sweden and internationally.
