We develop the autonomous functions of the future together with our customers

HydX autonomous solutions aim to reduce operator workload, increase precision in specific operations and create more resource-efficient machines. With market-leading technical solutions and our own expertise as a foundation, we are now taking the next step towards the machine functions of the future.

What does autonomy mean in practice?

Autonomous functions can mean different things depending on the application and level of automation. It can be seen that the machine itself performs recurring tasks, follows a predefined sequence of movements, or acts with high precision based on real-time data from sensors such as lidar, radar, and GPS.

In some cases, the operator is still in the machine, but is supported in manoeuvring. In other cases, the machine is controlled remotely, for example, when travelling in confined spaces. As technology matures, the possibilities for machines to operate fully autonomously in safe and controlled environments are also increasing.

Autonomous solutions are about taking the burden off the operator and letting the machine handle monotonous tasks that demand or require extreme precision – leading to increased safety, higher productivity, and a better user experience.

Different degrees of autonomy depending on the conditions of the application

Autonomous systems are often categorised into five levels, ranging from fully manual machines with some electrification to full autonomy, where the machine operates completely independently without an operator nearby. The highest level of automation is found today mainly in industrial applications, where operations are carried out in closed environments, allowing operations to take place safely at a distance.

For mobile applications, where machines operate in open and more complex environments, level three is most relevant, meaning that the machine can perform parts of the work autonomously – for example, following a predefined trajectory, maintaining a constant speed or automatically performing specific operations – while the operator has an active role in monitoring and decision-making.

By relieving the operator, precision increases and the risk of errors is reduced without compromising control. HydX's strength lies in integrating these autonomous functions into existing systems in a way that is reliable, scalable and easy to use in practice.

HydX autonomous functions can, for example:

  • Perform repetitive tasks without manual control
  • Navigate based on GPS coordinates with high precision
  • React in real time to the environment via lidar and radar data
  • Optimise energy use and reduce unnecessary resource consumption

The technology behind it - and the opportunities it creates

We have access to an extensive library of hardware and software from world-leading suppliers, which enables the development of advanced autonomous functions. By combining our expertise in control systems, electrification, and hydraulics, we can offer comprehensive solutions for autonomous systems, encompassing sensor systems, programming, and fully operational machines.

HydX - a partner for the next generation machine

We are at the beginning of an exciting journey. With new technology, cutting-edge expertise and the right partners, HydX already offers autonomous solutions that can be implemented in mobile, marine and industrial environments. Our focus is on understanding the application and the customer's needs to translate them into innovative technical solutions.

Autonomy is not the future, it is here now. Our role is to help customers take the first step, demonstrate what’s possible, and develop solutions that deliver tangible benefits. The technology exists, and we have the expertise to put it into action.
