HydX will soon move to new premises, partly to enable growth but also to allow it to take on a bigger responsibility for the green transition. We create value for generations. “Our premises are more than just a workplace. They are a confirmation of our sustainability promise and our contribution to a greener future,” says HydX’s COO Mattias Salomonsson. “Our new workplace embodies effectiveness, eco-awareness and responsibility.”
HydX, which is turning 15, has had a distinct environmental profile since the very start. The company has used green electricity and had environmental certification for a decade, uses fossil-free district heat, and works persistently to reduce its climate emissions and help customers adapt to green technology through electrification, battery drive and circular oil systems.
“We have high environmental standards, which has always been part of our DNA. We have worked hard to improve energy efficiency, we always consider the environment and climate and continuously work to become even better,” says Salomonsson.
HydX strives not only to comply with international standards such as ISO 14001, which certification the company has had since 2010, but also to actively promote well-being and sustainability through all aspects of the business. The company works in compliance with the UN’s global Sustainable Development Goals and the efforts focus on critical areas such as education, equality, access to clean water and sustainable energy use, which are important to both HydX and our customers.
“Our role extends outside the confines of our business. We support our customers and their products that directly contribute to these global goals through initiatives such as electrification, battery drive, resource optimisation, sustainable forest management, effective logistics chains and circular processes to name a few,” says Mattias Salomonsson.
In summer 2023, the company broke ground for the new headquarters in the Öja industrial district on the outskirts of Ystad. The headquarters make up close to 4,400 m2 of space, of which 1,000 m2 is office premises and 3,400 m2 is intended for warehouse and production facilities, with an added 9,000 m2 of outdoor storage space. The new premises were certified as Miljöbyggnad Silver . It is a validation given by the Sweden Green Building Council, which guarantees that a building’s environmental performance complies with and exceeds both the legal requirement and industry standards. “It requires us to exceed standard requirements through close scrutiny of fifteen separate indicators such as energy efficiency, the indoor environment and use of materials,” continues Salomonsson.
He points out that the company has laid special emphasis on sustainable construction and ensured that every aspect of the building, from the ventilation system to the choice of materials, is designed to minimise energy consumption, secure excellent air quality and daylight conditions. The contents of the building materials used were examined carefully to avoid substances harmful to the environment and health. Also, the new premises were decorated with repurposed furniture.
“The interior design also reflects our commitment to eco-friendliness; the furniture we phase out is put back into economic circulation, which strengthens our commitment to a sustainable planet and reduces our carbon dioxide footprint,” says HydX’s COO Mattias Salomonsson.
“Our choice to use repurposed furniture contributes not only to reduced waste management but also to significant CO2 reductions: 50 kg for each office chair, 200 kg for storage furniture and as much as 300 kg for a sofa. We are proud of our new premises, which are not only a place to work but also an important contributor to sustainable development and environmental responsibility, creating value for generations”
